Digital Sight ACT-1 for L-1 Software
Live Panel Functions
When the Live tab is selected from the group of five settings panels displayed within the main control window, the Live settings menu panel is displayed at the forefront of the group. This panel provides the user with the capability to flip and/or rotate the live image to match its orientation to the image seen in the microscope eyepieces. Additionally, adjustment sliders enable changes to be made to the image brightness, contrast, and gamma.
Different camera mounting and optical configurations can cause the image displayed on the monitor to be oriented differently from the optical microscope image as viewed directly through the eyepieces. The image orientation in the live display window can be changed by employing the Direction controls at the top of the Live settings panel. Four radio buttons are provided for selection of an image rotation angle, as illustrated in Figure 1. The default setting is the 0 option, which applies no rotation to the displayed image, and buttons to the right provide choices of 90 CW (90 degrees clockwise rotation), 180 (180 degrees rotation), and 90 CCW (90 degrees counterclockwise rotation). A checkbox, labeled Mirror, can be selected by clicking with the mouse, which flips the image about the vertical axis (right or left). The resulting mirror image can be flipped back to the original orientation by unchecking the box.
Located below the Direction controls are sliders and numerical display fields labeled Brightness, Contrast, and Gamma. Each slider can be dragged with the mouse to increase or decrease the corresponding setting, with changes being immediately reflected in the live image, and retained in the captured image when saved. If the desired value to be set is known, it can be entered in the appropriate display field from the keyboard, followed by pressing the enter key to apply the value. The Brightness and Contrast settings have default values of 0 and can be varied through a range of -255 to 255. The default Gamma value is 1.0, and it may be adjusted over a range of 0.05 to 2.0 to modify the gray scale of the image.
