Additional Settings Panel FeaturesThe Digital Sight camera system's Additional Settings panel is accessed by selecting the Additional... button from the SETUP menu. Included in the settings on this screen are the Date: and Time: fields, which should be set to the correct current values before any images are acquired with the system. The date and time are utilized by the system in the automatic file naming feature (discussed in the Saving Digital Images section) to allow recorded images to be accurately cataloged and archived. Figure 1 illustrates these and other settings included on the Additional Settings panel.
It is important to check the date and time when turning on the system after it has been shut down for one week or longer. Over extended periods the backup battery may lose charge and the internal timer may stop running, causing the date and time to be incorrect on captured image file names. Note that the system power must be turned on in order for the backup battery to charge. The Power Save Timer enables the user to enter a time period, which specifies how long the unit remains active if not used. If the system is left idle for the specified time interval, the camera control unit will switch to power-save mode, and both the built-in LCD monitor and the external monitor will be blanked until the system if again activated. If a value of 00 minutes is selected, the power-save function will be disabled. The Pointer Speed setting controls how rapidly the mouse pointer (cursor) moves on the display screen when the mouse is moved. Low, Mid, and High settings are provided, and the desired one is selected by clicking with the mouse. The E. Zoom Step panel provides eight checkboxes to enable or disable each of the available electronic zoom steps that are accessed by the system's zoom function. More information on the electronic zoom feature is available in the Image Display Features section, as well as in the Digital Sight Camera Control Unit section. The Capture Function panel assigns the function of the CAPTURE buttons on the camera control unit and remote controller, and the menu CAPT. button. Selecting the Save to Card checkbox will save a captured image to the CF memory card, and selecting the Save to Server checkbox will save a captured image to the FTP server. Similarly, checking the Print checkbox sends the captured data to an assigned printer. It is possible to enable two or more of these options simultaneously. The control unit's external output is switched on or off by selection of checkboxes in the External Out panel. The feature is not currently implemented, and it is recommended that off be selected.
