VIEW Menu Features
The VIEW menu of the Digital Sight camera control unit provides CF card access features that allow the user to browse the CF card, view captured images or a collection of image thumbnails, and delete captured images.
Access to the VIEW menu, which is illustrated in Figure 1, can be accomplished by right-clicking the mouse cursor on the display window if no other menus are active, followed by selection of the VIEW tag. The VIEW menu may be dismissed by right-clicking the mouse on the display window.
The VIEW menu contains a number of buttons that are used in CF card file manipulation. The Directory Contents Area (see Figure 1) displays up to eight file or directory names with normal files and directory names written in yellow letters, and hidden file and directory names written in red. Directories are indicated by the presence of the label <DIR> following the directory name. The user may scroll up and down through the contents of the current directory on the CF card using the UP and DOWN arrows located on the right-hand side of the VIEW menu (Directory and File Selection buttons; see Figure 1).
Clicking the mouse cursor on the Image Display button of the VIEW menu will select the file or directory that is located at the top of the contents display. Also, clicking a file or directory that is visible within the contents area will select it. Selecting a directory will cause that directory's contents to be displayed in the CF card directory contents area. Selecting an image file that has a *.JPG or *.BMP extension will cause the image file to be displayed in the display window.
It is also possible to delete files stored on the CF card by first moving the file the user wishes to delete to the top of the contents display area. Clicking the Image File Deletion button will summon a delete confirmation dialog similar to that illustrated in Figure 2. Clicking the Y button will permanently delete the file from the CF card.
Clicking the Thumbnail Menu button while a folder containing image files is selected summons the thumbnail menu (Figure 3). The thumbnail menu contains nine thumbnail entries of the images stored in the selected directory. A portion of the thumbnail menu is illustrated in Figure 3. The thumbnail menu can accommodate a total of nine thumbnail images at one time. If the selected directory contains more than nine images, the user may navigate through the images contained in the folder by clicking the navigation buttons (Thumbnail Navigation Buttons; see Figure 3).
Each of the nine thumbnail image windows contains a small version of the captured image, along with informational text located beneath the thumbnail image. This information includes the thumbnail image number, the filename, as well as the file creation date and time. Clicking any of the thumbnail images with the mouse has the effect of dismissing the thumbnail menu, and displaying the corresponding saved image in the display window. Moving the mouse pointer over a thumbnail will cause a small toolbar to appear (Thumbnail Toolbar; see Figure 3). The thumbnail toolbar contains four buttons whose functions are (from top to bottom): display the saved image, print the saved image, save the image to the ftp server, and delete the saved image. The thumbnail menu may be dismissed by clicking on the large 'X' button (Close Thumbnail Menu; see Figure 3).
