PLAY Submenu FeaturesThe PLAY submenu of the DN100 camera control unit provides PC card access features that allow the user to browse the PC card, view captured images or an image slideshow, and delete captured images.
Access to the PLAY submenu, which is illustrated in Figure 1, can be accomplished by right-clicking the mouse cursor on the display window while no other menus are active. To dismiss the PLAY submenu, simply right-click the mouse on the display window. The PLAY menu contains a number of buttons that are used in PC card file manipulation. The Directory Contents Area (see Figure 1) displays up to three file or directory names with normal files and directory names written in yellow letters, and hidden file and directory names written in red. Directories are indicated by the presence of the label <DIR> following the directory name. The user may scroll up and down through the contents of the current directory on the PC card using the UP and DOWN arrows located on the right-hand side of the PLAY submenu (Directory and File Selection buttons; see Figure 1). Clicking the mouse cursor on the Image Display button of the PLAY submenu will select the file or directory that is located at the top of the contents display. Also, clicking a file or directory that is visible within the contents area will select it. Selecting a directory will cause that directory's contents to be displayed in the PC card directory contents area. Selecting an image file that has a *.JPG or *.BMP extension will cause the image file to be displayed in the display window. The Slideshow button enables the user to view a slideshow of the images contained in the displayed directory of the PC card. The amount of time that the camera control unit waits before proceeding to display the next image is configurable using the Timer Setting panel of the Setup menus. When the slideshow has finished displaying all of the images in the directory, it will continue to loop through the same list repeatedly until the user interrupts the display by right-clicking inside of the display window.
It is also possible to delete files stored on the PC card by first moving the file the user wishes to delete to the top of the contents display area. Clicking the Image File Deletion button will summon a delete confirmation dialog similar to that illustrated in Figure 2. Clicking the Y button will permanently delete the file from the PC card. The Red, Green, and Blue Pens of the PLAY submenu are discussed thoroughly in the Annotation Tools section. Similarly, the DWIN and SWIN buttons are discussed in the Image Display Features section.
