Rabbit Heart Tissue with Oregon Green 488

YFP Bandpass Emission (Narrow Bandwidth Excitation) Blue-Green Set

Fluorescence emission intensity from a rabbit heart tissue thin section stained with wheat germ agglutinin conjugated to Oregon Green 488. In addition, the specimen was simultaneously stained for filamentous actin with Alexa Fluor 568 conjugated to phalloidin, and for DNA with the ultraviolet-absorbing probe DAPI. The visible light absorption maximum of Oregon Green 488 wheat germ agglutinin is 496 nanometers and the emission maximum occurs at 524 nanometers, values that fall within the useful range of the Nikon YFP HYQfilter combination. Note the strong green fluorescence emission from the green fluorophore, while no signal is observed from the blue and orange probes, DAPI and Alexa Fluor 568, respectively.
