Lung Vaso-occlusion in Sickle Cell Disease Mediated by Arteriolar Neutrophil-platelet Microemboli

Researchers at University of Pittsburgh have demonstrated the therapeutic potential of targeting platelet adhesion molecules in reducing the formation of neutrophil-platelet aggregates, which form microemboli in patients with sickle cell disease. Intravital imaging was performed with a Nikon A1R MP multiphoton system and super-resolution SIM using a Nikon N-SIM system.
