Fluorophore Literature References
A wide spectrum of synthetic fluorophores and hybrid systems composed of genetically-encoded targets and membrane permeable tags have been developed for imaging living and fixed cells. Among the most useful synthetics are the Alexa Fluors, Cyanine (Cy series) dyes, ATTO dyes, and Tracker series. Hybrid systems rely on targeting a genetically-encoded receptor using a membrane-permeable synthetic fluorophore and are best exemplified by the FlAsH system.
